ITV Close To Signing A Deal With Hulu But May Delay UK Launch
Watching Online TV and video is exploding with massive increases in viewers according to Comscore. The stir up figures for online pelts soared to new heights last month (July), with over 158 million Americans(over 80% of the population) watched 21.4 billion videos in July setting a new record.
Although watching live internet tv has been growing for some time, around a year back the figures for online video seemed to have levelled. But since April, fold to 24 million more users have get going regular online video watchers, according to comScore.
Since then, online video viewing has become all the more mainstream, in July 2009, 81.0 percent of the total U.S. Internet consultation viewed online video, up from 73 percent in April of 2008.
The average user watched 8.3 hours of video electrical capacity last month. Surprisingly although summer was expected to see a reduction in viewing figures, the opposite happened.
When looking at singular users, Google won again, reaching 121 million unique viewers, versus 64.5 million uniques for second land sited Microsoft. Mega popular Hulu reached 38.1 million unique users, good enough for sixth place in the category.
Any rise in online stream viewers is welcome, but also expected with the growing popularity and growth in video and tv content providers who are creating an online presence.
ITV, the largest free to air network in the UK is allegedly only weeks away from signing a deal with Catch up tv giant Hulu, allowing the US tv on demand website, to syndicate itv’s content in commute for equity in the company, according to UK newspaper The Daily conducting wire.
Hulu, owned by worldwide Electric Co, NBC Universal, News Corp and Walt Disney, is now in modern discussions with ITV and an announcement on the footing of the agreement was due “within a matter of weeks,” it was disclosed.
Once this deal is wrapped up it is believed that the BBC Worldwide will be next in Hulu’s sights for possible partners, giving it enough content to launch. The problem is these deals all take time to thrash out which may affect Hulu’s planned September UK launch.
